What is the state of the Nordics today? How do researchers investigate Nordic society and concepts?

Join Nicola Witcombe, the editor of nordics.info, on 12 virtual visits around the Nordic countries and the US in this podcast series - each time she is joined by researchers who help her find out the answers to key questions about Nordic society.

From February to June 2021, researchers from within the humanities and social sciences offered their unique insight into pressing issues in today’s society, including the welfare state, education systems, Nordic literature, political science, the Nordics’ relationship with the EU, migration, and Nordic branding.

The researchers - from Denmark, Iceland, Norway, Sweden, Finland, Germany and the US - give listeners their take on subjects they have studied and researched for years. They also give an overview of upcoming research in their area and how this all plays into the development of Nordic society. Many of the scholars being interviewed in this podcast series are also part of the ReNEW University Hub, coordinated from the Centre for Nordic Studies at Helsinki University.

Our second podcast series gives you a chance to listen to articles on nordics.info instead - and whatsmore in two different languages, English and a Nordic language (mainly Danish).

There are currently 14 podcasts in this series and they are between 12 and 25 minutes long. We add to this series on an ad hoc basis.

Please note!:

Many of our podcast participants do not always speak in their native language. This means that pronunciation and sometimes the occasional word may not be 100% perfect. We think that this adds to the charm of our series. If you do have any comments/feedback, please get in touch!: nordics.info@cas.au.dk.
