Film: The Bicycle and the City of Copenhagen

Watch a film about the historical development of Copenhagen as a cycling city.

In films for the New Nordic Lexicon, students ask researchers to talk about an object, book or place that represents their research.

Natalie Marie Gulsrud, Associate Professor from the University of Copenhagen, chooses the bicycle. To Natalie, the bike is important in her personal and professional life and it particularly represents the value of green urban planning, both in the past and the future.

Natalie is interviewed by Jasmin Adolph from Södertörn University and Gaëtan Gamba from the University of Helsinki (both of whom have now graduated).

At the time of recording, Gaëtan studied European and Nordic Studies at the University of Helsinki, and has been interviewed by Nordic Student Radio - Nordljud - about his role in the New Nordic Lexicon. Jasmin completed her Master's in jounalism at Södertörn University and she has regularly provided input into articles and the development of the lexicon as part of the Reference Group.

As well as her role as Associate Professor at the University of Copenhagen, Natalie Gulsrud is involved in numerous projects mainly to do with greening the city and urban planning.
