Annika Christensen has a PhD from the University of Leeds entitled “‘Kvæði í Føroyskari Samtíð’ Exploring Ballads as Popular Culture and Heritage in Contemporary Faroese Culture”, and her research interests include the use of medieval imagery, symbolism and narratives in contemporary culture, as well as critical cultural studies of Scandinavia and the North Atlantic, especially the smaller communities that often are left behind in global political and cultural agendas.
