Ásta Kristín Benediktsdóttir is an independent scholar at the Reykjavik Academy and co-editor of the journal Skírnir. She holds a PhD in Icelandic literature and her dissertation (2019) focused on queer themes in the works of Elías Mar from the mid-twentieth century. Her main research interests are queer literature and history, and recently she has co-organised various queer projects, such as A Rainbow Thread (a queer guide through the National Museum of Iceland) and Hidden Women (an archive project on queer women’s sexuality in Iceland before 1960).
